About Ebco Metal Finishing Ltd.
We have been safely and successfully operating in the Lower Mainland since 1956. Family-owned and operated, we deliver high quality metal finishing and hot-dip galvanizing services for projects here and around the world.
About Our Facility
We built our galvanizing facility in Campbell Heights in Surrey to replace our facility in Richmond. We moved to grow our business and be closer to our customers and employees.
Our purpose-built facility uses many of the modern technologies and emissions controls that we tested in Richmond, and it is cleaner, safer and more efficient. We employ approximately 40 people, most of whom live nearby.

About Our Permit
Some of our activities produce emissions so were required to obtain an air quality permit from Metro Vancouver. We submitted our permit application in April 2017 and held a public information meeting on April 18. Our initial permit was issued on 28 March 2018 and we received our amended permit on 26 March 2019.
Our modelling results show that predicted concentrations from our facility contribute a small percentage to the total amount of regional air quality concentrations – between 0.03% and 11% of objective levels, depending on the substance. When combined with background levels the ambient conditions remain well below Metro Vancouver objective levels. For more information, please view our information materials: Air Quality, Health and Environmental Assessment Report, Metro Vancouver Permit Application, Display Boards, Air Quality Assessment Presentation, Company Overview Presentation.
Metro Vancouver objectives are health-based guidelines that are consistent in most jurisdictions in North America. For more information about air quality permitting visit Metro Vancouver’s website.
What is Galvanizing?
Galvanizing is the process of applying a zinc coating to steel to prevent rust. This includes cleaning and dipping steel products into special high-grade zinc metal. Zinc is a naturally occurring element found in air, water and soil. Zinc is considered essential for all life — humans, animals and plants.
Galvanized steel reduces the need for maintenance, is less toxic than paint (no Volatile Organic Compounds), and can have a life span of up to 75 years or more with little effect on the surrounding environment. Galvanized steel is 100% recyclable.
Galvanized steel is used for:
- Construction
- Agricultural
- Hydro electric
- Bridges
- Highway structures including guardrails, light poles and signs
Some local examples of our galvanizing work are shown here.

Our Commitment
We will be a good neighbour. We are committed to operating in compliance with permit conditions that Metro Vancouver requires.
